Langar Hall wedding photography

Langar Hall wedding photography, Charlotte and Nick’s summer wedding.

There are some venues that can only be described as magnificent and Langar Hall is one of these. Set in the Vale of Belvoir, 12 miles southeast of Nottingham, Ideally suited to smaller weddings of up to 50 guests in the house or more using a marquee in the garden, Langar Hall has been a favourite wedding venue with Nottinghamshire couples since 1995. The house is also available with the 12 bedrooms allowing guests to stay overnight.  Langar Hall sits next to the twelfth century church in beautiful gardens overlooking the surrounding countryside.

Charlotte and Nick’s wedding ceremony was at  St John’s Church in Colston Bassett,  before which I had photographed Charlotte getting ready in Nottingham. After the ceremony it was a scenic drive through Nottinghamshire to Langar Hall.

Charlotte’s dress was based on a 150 year old antique lace skirt which she found in Notting Hill. Charlotte designed the top of the dress and had it made by Mango Couture in Nottingham. Charlotte made the bridesmaid dresses using her own design fabric. Nick wore a Paul Smith Mainline suit.

Gypsy Folk band Manière des Bohémiens provided the musical entertainment in the garden at Langar Hall.

Charlotte is half Polish and it’s a Polish tradition to serve shots during the speeches instead of the usual champagne, three bottles of homemade Vodka on each table ensured a lively party.  They served cherry vodka for the father of the bride speech, beetroot for the groom’s and Lemongrass and ginger for the best man’s speech.   The cake was from Hunkydory cakes.

In the evening they placed  Shisha pipes under parasol’s in the garden, these seemed very popular with the guests.

“We chose Simon Atkins as our photographer as we loved his dark photojournalist style and he didn’t do any of those ‘naff’ shots of the shoes placed in a bush etc!.  The church was such a dramatic environment; we didn’t want the stark beauty softening. He captured the day perfectly, especially the Church.”

If you are getting married at Langar Hall I can show you this complete wedding of around 350 photographs. Please get in touch.
