Allerton Castle wedding photography in Yorkshire. I photograph weddings all over the country and recently found myself in Yorkshire for this wedding at Allerton Castle. Described as ‘England’s grandest and most elegant gothic revival stately home’ nothing prepares you for the first glimpse of Allerton Castle as drive into the grounds. The house has a long history including a fire which almost destroyed the entire building. After a full restoration the scars of the fire have all been erased and today Allerton Castle is a popular venue for weddings, I photographed two weddings here over the summer months.
My Coverage for Janine and Stephen’s wedding started with photographing Janine’s pre wedding preparations before heading off to the nearby church for the wedding ceremony. Afterwards it was off to Allerton Castle for the reception. Stepping inside the first thing you notice is the impressive Great Hall with it’s ceiling 70ft above. This was the location for the drinks ceremony. I couldn’t help but wonder how much it must cost to heat a room with such a high ceiling.
The wedding guests with the bride and groom enjoyed the gardens in the summer sunshine before the wedding breakfast in the rather impressive plaster room. As the sun dropped down lower in the sky during the evening and shone through the large windows I was treated to some gorgeous light to work with. My coverage ended with the first dance.
Janine and Stephen have chosen a rather lovely Queensberry wedding album.
These are a few of the wedding photographs from Allerton Castle.
